Testing & College Entrance Exams

Testing & College Entrance Exams

CLASSICAL is committed to developing a comprehensive college-readiness assessment sequence as our first high school classes progress toward graduation. Our approach is guided by the school’s classical educational philosophy, which emphasizes mastery of substantive academic content, clear reasoning, effective communication, and the cultivation of intellectual virtue.

Looking Ahead

Because the PSAT is now administered digitally, we cannot offer it to ninth- and tenth-grade students under our current testing arrangements.  The administering of college entrance exams and practice exams will follow this schedule below:

Spring 2027

CLASSICAL will offer the CLT10 to freshmen and sophomores. These assessments are consistent with our educational philosophy and provide opportunities for students to demonstrate their academic preparation.

Fall 2027

Our plan is to offer the official PSAT/NMSQT to the junior class during the fall testing window.  The PSAT/NMSQT serves as the qualifying assessment for the National Merit Scholarship Program.  We are working to establish the testing arrangements necessary to support this administration, including the technology required for digital testing.  Our intention is to provide students with access to this opportunity while maintaining our commitment to a low-tech educational environment.

Spring 2028

The school will administer the Ohio-funded ACT or SAT selected for that year’s junior administration, in accordance with applicable state requirements and the school’s finalized testing arrangements.  The school will also administer the CLT to all juniors.  Students will also receive college-planning guidance concerning additional testing that may be appropriate for their individual admissions and scholarship objectives.
