Sentinel Summer Camps

CLASSICAL Summer Remediation, Enrichment, and Recreation Camps

Participation Grade is based on the grade your child will be entering in the fall of 2023. All campers must be currently enrolled at Cincinnati Classical Academy. All camps are held at Cincinnati Classical Academy. Please enroll into camp by May 15, 2023. No refunds for cancellations less than a 14-day notice. Classical Academy reserves the right to cancel any camp with less than 50% capacity. All participants must be potty trained and can use the restroom of their own accord. All camps run Monday – Thursday each week. All campers must be currently enrolled at Cincinnati Classical Academy. Newly enrolled students for the 2023-24 school year are welcome to sign up.

Academic Enrichment Camps

Composition Camp​

Grades: 4th, 5th, and 6th

Campers will use enrichment materials from IEW to compose essays, work on sentence structure, and practice specific IEW skills and rules.

Literature and Writing Camp

Grades: 2nd and 3rd

This camp will integrate rich classical literature and writing. The stories we read will be the basis for multiple compositions focused on retelling a story,
journaling, and writing paragraphs based on key word outlines. Campers will leave the with a beautiful summer portfolio.

Literature and Writing Camp

Grades: 5th and 6th

Campers will have a course that is divided into two sections. The first section will be guided summer reading and discussion of literature and essay writing. The second will incorporate elements of Well-Ordered Language including sentence analysis and utilizing correct grammar and proofreading in written work.

Literature and Writing Camp

Grades: 7th

Campers will have the opportunity for guided summer reading with a choice of books. The AM session will read “The Hobbit” and the PM session will read the Sherlock Holmes adventure “The Hound of the Baskervilles”. Half of each session will be devoted to discussion of the literature, and the other half devoted to writing skills.

Literacy Camp

Grades: 4th and 5th

Campers will review the most foundational and essential skills learned in 3rd and 4th grade literacy including spelling, grammar, and reading comprehension. This class will help build and reinforce literacy skills for rising fourth and fifth graders to confidently approach the next grade literacy-based subjects before the start of the school year.

Math Camp

Grades: 4th and 5th

Campers will review the foundational skills learned in third grade Singapore Math including multiplication, division, fractions and bar modeling, and word problems. The skills reinforced in this class will help both rising fourth and fifth graders to confidently approach upper elementary mathematics.

Math Camp

Grades: 5th, 6th, and 7th

Campers will review and practice math facts, multiple digit multiplication and division, fractions, decimals, and basic geometry. They will also be introduced to some advanced skills such as integers & linear pains of angles.

Recreational Enrichment Camps

Is your child interested in learning to sew, developing imagination in art, competing in sports, and learning a new one, becoming a master of the stage? Attending a summer camp with this focus is a perfect way for them to explore while giving them experience and confidence. Art Camp

Grades: 1st, 2nd, 3rd – June 12-15 (1pm-4pm)

Participants will learn about traditional American arts and create their own art inspired by it. Projects may include weaving, box making and (hojolata) tin art.

Decathlon Camp

Grades: 3rd &4th – July 10-13 (9am-12pm)

Grades:  5th & 6th – July 24-27 or July 31-Aug 3  (9am-12pm)

Campers will learn the fundamentals of a variety of sports including handball, ultimate frisbee, capture the flag and more. We will practice and compete in our favorite team sports from the year. Each day will conclude with a snack and discussion of the school virtues needed on the playing field.

Campers will discover the world of textiles as they learn basic hand-sewing and machine sewing.
