Mr. Ian McRae

Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Mr. Ian McRae attended Hillsdale College, earning a bachelor’s degree in History and Politics before teaching 6th–8th Latin for two years at Rocky Mountain Classical Academy. From there, he returned to school to earn an MLitt degree in Intellectual History from the University of St Andrews. At the close of his master’s program, he relocated to Jackson, Wyoming, to teach 6th American History, Latin, and World Geography; 7th Latin and Literature & Composition; and 9th American Humane Letters from 2021 to 2024.

Mr. McRae’s current academic interests are the emergence and evolution of an American national identity through the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and the works of Dickens and Dostoevsky. Outside of school, Mr. McRae has an interest in outdoor pursuits like hiking, hunting, camping, and the Seattle Mariners (and now the Cincinnati Reds). He is looking forward to joining the faculty at Classical.
