Athletics

Cincinnati Classical Academy’s athletics program is an integral part of our well-rounded Classical education. Athletics foster teamwork, build community, and further the pursuit of a formation in virtue, especially perseverance and humility.

The Classical Cup

Registration is open for the Classical Cup on Sunday, Oct. 25 at Glenview Golf Course! Check-in begins at 12:00 PM, with tee-off at 1:30 PM. The Classical Cup is a team scramble format, and all skill levels are welcome. Register as a team or sign up individually, and we’ll pair you with a group. Not a golfer? Join us as a spectator or volunteer to be part of this fun community event. The outing concludes with a reception, silent auction, and awards. Proceeds from the Classical Cup support CLASSICAL Athletics. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.

On Saturday, October 24, the Athletic Department will host our inaugural CLASSICAL Bonfire Night on the Lower Elysian Field at the Siebenthaler campus.

Sentinel Athletics

Athletic teams enhance the camaraderie of the student body, providing students, parents, and faculty the opportunity to express school spirit and build community. Read more about our current offerings below.

Physical Education

All students in grades K-10 engage in PE class each and every day throughout the school year, regardless of participation on an athletics team. Cincinnati Classical Academy’s PE classes share the same purpose as any other discipline: to foster a love of what is true, good, and beautiful. These classes focus on strategies for building strength, endurance, and flexibility by means of warm-ups, exercises, and team sports which allow for wide-scale participation in games such as ultimate frisbee, basketball, soccer, and capture-the-flag.

Athletics Eligibility Policy Changes

Cincinnati Classical Academy believes that student involvement in extracurriculars is a core part of their experience at this school. We want to help foster a love for athletics, academics, the arts, and everything else that helps to form the well-rounded citizens we endeavor to develop at CLASSICAL. As part of that idea, we have decided to make a change to the athletic eligibility rules governing grades 6 and below.

Effective immediately, the CLASSICAL athletic eligibility policy will ONLY APPLY TO STUDENTS IN GRADES 7 AND ABOVE. Any students in grades 3rd-6th who were deemed ineligible in Q4 of the 2025-2026 school year for Q1 of the 2026-2027 school year now will be eligible.

We firmly believe this is the best practice for our school, as we do not want to deter families with young students from being involved in the CLASSICAL community.

Any questions should be directed toward our Athletic Director, Mr. Bissmeyer.

Parent Volunteers

All members of the Cincinnati Classical Academy family can support the athletic program in a variety of ways, including coaching, transportation, concession help, and attending events as fans. A successful athletics program is a demonstration of the entire school working together. If you are interested in coaching, please contact Mr. Kevin Bissmeyer at: athletics@cincyclassical.org
