Mr. Timothy Carter
Upper School Humanities Teacher
- Bachelor of Arts (English and Theatre | University of Kentucky)
- Master of Fine Arts (Acting | Brandeis University)
A native of Lexington, Kentucky, Mr. Timothy Carter is delighted to join the faculty of Cincinnati Classical Academy. Prior to his arrival at CLASSICAL, he taught English at Lexington Catholic High School and Sayre School.
Before entering the classroom, Mr. Carter worked professionally as a theatre actor in New York City. He played Scar for four years in the national Broadway tour of The Lion King and performed major roles with The Acting Company, Shakespeare Theatre Company, Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Colorado Shakespeare Festival, Westport Country Playhouse, and other theatres across the country.
As a teacher, he is passionate about language—both the written and the spoken word. His approach stresses clarity, simplicity, and directness. He encourages students to think clearly and independently, to grapple seriously with ideas, and to write and speak articulately and effectively.
Mr. Carter believes that students learn not only from instruction, but also from example. Therefore, he strives to model the virtues he asks of his students: integrity, humility, and the steady pursuit of excellence.
