A note from the Director of Athletics: The mission of the school is to develop the minds and nourish the hearts of our students through a content-rich curriculum in the classical liberal arts and sciences, with instruction in moral character and civic virtue.
At Cincinnati Classical Academy, our athletics program supports the school’s mission by cultivating the moral character and civic virtue of student-athletes through disciplined training, spirited competition, and the pursuit of excellence – or arete. Rooted in the classical tradition of ancient Greek education – which held that the well-formed soul must pursue physical and moral excellence – our program exists to help students learn to love the beautiful, to do the good, and to seek the truth through the scope of athletic competition. In the arena of sports, athletes are challenged to grow in virtue as they strive for greatness not only in technical skill, but also in characterological development. Through perseverance in training, courage in competition, humility in victory, and gratitude in defeat, our athletes learn to embody the seven core virtues celebrated in our school, being always mindful that strength rejoices in the challenge. Athletics at Cincinnati Classical Academy is more than just a contest of strength or speed – it is also a proving ground for the soul, where students learn to order their lives and pursue what is noble and true.
