Mr. Joshua Wellen

Mr. Wellen joined Classical after 17 years teaching language arts and 23 years of coaching lacrosse.  Mr. Wellen earned a BA in psychology and creative writing from Miami University before pursuing his master’s degree in education at Xavier University.  A graduate of St. Xavier High School here in Cincinnati, Mr. Wellen joined the Companion Scholars program at St. Xavier as a language arts teacher; he has worked with Companion Scholars for 18 years.  Mr. Wellen began his full-time teaching career at St. Ignatius, where he taught students with a wide range of academic abilities for nine years before continuing his teaching career at Moeller High School, where he developed the Chaminade Global Scholars Capstone program. Coach Wellen’s lacrosse coaching career began at St. Xavier in 2000.  Since then, Coach Wellen has helped develop lacrosse programs in Cincinnati for boys and girls of all ages, from peewee lacrosse to college lacrosse.  Mr. Wellen is excited about the opportunity to shape the culture of Cincinnati Classical Academy’s athletics program.
