Dr. Micaela Schmitz specializes in early keyboard instruments. After a Bachelors in Music at U.C. Berkeley, she earned a Masters degree in Choral Conducting and Doctorate of Musical Arts in Harpsichord at the Eastman School of Music (Rochester, NY). As a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar, she studied with Jacques Ogg and Bart van Oort at the Royal Conservatory, The Hague. She has toured Bach’s Goldberg variations and a program honoring Carlo Acutis. She has performed with Laurence Cummings, Paul Simmonds, gambist Jacqui Robertson-Wade, and as part of Lady Georgianna, touring the UK and recording. She edited the magazine Harpsichord and Fortepiano and recorded for regencydances.org. Locally, she performs with Seven Hills Baroque, Heri et Hodie, and Bach Ensemble St. Thomas. She conducts choirs and leads early music courses (earlymusica.org).
